Ryan Giggs wrote a poem for his ex telling her she was “all he ever wanted”, a court has heard.
The former Manchester United player, 48, wrote Kate Greville a poem based on the letters of her last name. He told Ms Greville on New Year’s Eve in 2017: “G for gorgeous, R for radiant, E for extraordinary, V for vivacious, I for idolised by me, L for legs. L for legs, E for everything I’ve ever wanted.”
Manchester Crown Court heard how she later replied: “Baby what an amazing message to wake up to”. The jury also heard Ms Greville had messaged Giggs: “Good morning baby, you know I think you’re amazing. I want to reiterate how amazing you are and how happy and amazing you make me feel…” to which Giggs replied: “I think you’re fandabidozy”.
The poem was read to jurors on Friday morning as they poured over hundreds of messages, which were presented to the trial by Giggs’ defence team. Giggs also told Ms Greville: “You are the cherry on my cake, the jam in my doughnut, the salt in my tequila, the truffle in my pasta”.
Giggs also messaged Ms Greville to say she was “like Fort Knox” because she was “full of gold”. The court heard Giggs told Ms Greville to “Google it” adding “it’s precious” to which Ms Greville replied: “I was thinking hard to get into.”
Ms Greville also sent Giggs the poem: “It’s better when we are between the sheets. You make my heart skip a beat. In less than a month I’ll be home for good, and I literally can’t wait, that needs to be understood. I’m counting down the days, thinking of all the ways I’m going to make your cock raise.”
The ex-Wales manager is accused of controlling behaviour towards Ms Greville from 2017 until their split in 2020 and of headbutting her during a row at their home in Worsley, Greater Manchester, in November 2020.
He is further accused of elbowing her sister Emma Greville in the jaw during the argument. Giggs denies all charges.
Giggs won 64 caps for Wales and 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies, four FA Cups and three League Cups during his time at Manchester United. He is also a co-owner of League Two side Salford City.

Ryan Joseph Giggs was born on November 29, 1973, in Canton, Cardiff, Wales, to rugby player Danny Wilson and his wife, Lynne Giggs. He has a younger brother named Rhodri, who grew up to be the manager of ‘Salford City.’
His father was a rugby union player for ‘Cardiff RFC.’ Ryan also played rugby league while in school. He spent much of his childhood with his paternal grandfather who was from Sierra Leone. It was with his grandfather that he initially started playing football in the neighborhood.
When he was 6 years old, his father moved to Swinton in Salford, Greater Manchester. It was the last goal ever to be scored in an ‘FA Cup’ semi-final replay, as from the following season, the rules were changed to add extra time and penalty shootouts in case of a draw.
Although he announced his retirement from international football in 2007, he played for Great Britain in the 2012 ‘Summer Olympics’ and became the oldest goal-scorer at the age of 38.
